80 gallon tank nice skimmer and refuge. But don't have filter socks.Tank numbers are good outside of nitrates and finally got phosphate in control after a few weeks of work.

Thinking I need to be taking out dirt. but told this is a new tank problem and if I add a filter roller it will reduce the skimmer and eventually the refuge will take care of the rest.

Interested in the group thoughts?

I don't have any socks, and no filter roller either! No mechanical filtration apart from skimmer and i love the simplicity!

Refugium > Skimmer > Return. Thats it!

Light your refugium properly- and set aside enough room and it will be your most versatile filter! Such a simple approach!

Nitrate: 6.7 ppm
Phosphate: 0.07 ppm

Do you have a sump or an AIO tank?
