My 72 x 24 x 8 inch frag tank has a Bare bottom with a small pile of 3 rocks on one end for anemones, a medium pice of rock and a large marine pure block, that’s it.

Mostly acro’s with some frogspawn and Zoas as well.

I tried it without the Marine Pure block first and got Dino’s, added the block seeded from the sump of my display and the Dino’s were gone in a

Most frag tanks dont have a lot of fish. Like usually 1 or 2 just too keep nutirents going. Shrimp would be good if you can keep them from the pumps and filters.
U can use sponge to seed the water. The frags will probably do it though. Lol

My frag system has 60# of old rock and four large Marine Pure blocks spread across the 3 sumps connected to it. I keep a ton of large fish though, so there is a lot of waste to process.

Are you running a skimmer?
I was running one until the pump went out a couple months ago, I am trying without for now, so far so good. With the low fish load I have been having to dose nitrate and phosphate to keep the acros colored up, so I am thinking it will be ok. I have been skimmerless in my display for almost 3 years now.
