my forest fire looks like montipora.. are there 2 types or are they all digitata?

They are two differnent corals.
The first one (forest fire monti) you listed is a encrusting monti... The second is a branching digitata (forest fire montipora digitata).

Both Have orange to red polyps with the tissue between polyps being green...

No reason to feel silly. We all need to ask questions to learn. Glad we were able to help you out.

The forest fire "digi" is actually a Montipora samarensis and not a true digitata.

Anybody got any pics of the branching one. M@ry Ruth bought something in Knoxville without asking what it was and I have been wondering if it is Forest Fire. It fits the description of orange polyps with green base.

Here's a pic of my Forest Fire frag. The green base is a little faded, but that pic was taken a few months ago.

sorry for the OT, but what is the super harry (not H@RRY) guy back left? Is that chips?

Bart, I really have no clue what that is. I got it at a frag swap almost 2 years ago as a no namer. The guy said it was a tri color acro and that was it. It's one of my favorite corals in my tank, but I'm lost 99% of it during my tank crash a few weeks ago. I managed to save about a 1/4" frag and its pulling through with a few polyps of life on it.

Here's another picture of it from about 5 months ago.
