My tank will be 110 gallons + sump and I need a new skimmer for when I upgrade. These skimmers have a good price point and I’ve been disappointed with expensive reef equipment so I figure maybe not paying so much would be fine ?

I will have a medium to moderately high bioload and it has to be as silent as possible. I am sensitive to noise.

So what do you think ? Is the Icecap k1-160 a good idea ?

Thanks !

1. If noise is a big concern, have you thought about just doing a refugium and no skimmer?

2. I would think a DC skimmer would be the quietest option.

I will set up a refugium eventually but not right after doing the upgrade.

Since I wrote this thread I kept doing research and now I’m considering the Simplicity 240 DC, which seems like a good bet and is said to be quiet.
