So my hammer was pooping a bit early some black stuff from its mouth and now it is super closed up, had it around 2 months and has always been fine could it just be something upset it or could it be an ongoing issue? The lights have ramped down a lot but it is normally more open at this time of night

Yes, that’s normal. The hammer was pooping/expelling excess zooxanthellae. It should open up again in another couple hours or so.
