Is my sinularia dead??

I took it out of the water to try and frag it and now it looks like this? Is it dead?

No. I would certainly just leave it alone for a while. Make sure it gets good flow.

I had it out of water for 5 minutes and now the base of it is very flaky

No, just give it time. If the base starts to turn black, then try to frag some good parts. They can look withered for several weeks and then begin to look better one day.

Agree with all other answers, give it time. Don't mess with it. May take a day or two for it to come back.
Leathers are.... dramatic...
