I think my Red Sea 600 DC skimmer is a bit too big for my 150g w/fleece roller and my nitrates are going up. (~20ppm) I'm DEEP into researching and the Reef Octopus Classic 150EXT is on my short list. (Side note: If they made a regal 150 with a DC pump I'd stop my search)

Question: How loud is the Reef Octopus Classic 150EXT compared to other skimmers? I'd be installing it in my sump.
Bonus Question: How long is a lifereef skimmer? It's on my short list too.

I have the 100 classic HoB and loud is never a work I'd use to describe it. Reef Octo is generally well liked amongst any who own them.

I've got the RS Classic 150 INT and it's not loud at all... Not sure about the EXT though.

I have the life reef it's definitely not quiet in its stock configuration. I switched mine from drawing from the skimmer cup to the venturi pulling through a pill bottle fill with cotton and CO2 remover and it not that bad. If I take off the bottle it sounds like a jet on takeoff. They pull an incredible amount of air. At full blast it will collapse the tubing if you hold your thumb over the end. IMHO it will skim circles around the octo.

Thank you for the feedback. Can you tell me which model lifereef you have and which pump you're using to power it?

Thanks in advance
