I have recently been experiment chronic low ph in my predator tank… 7.3-7.5… I know most say they don’t measure ph in a predator tank but I’m curious if there is a “too low”… maybe I need to investigate the cause of this low ph???

And the ph probe is a Neptune probe calibrated within the month

Edit: misread

Low pH is a result of poor gas exchange in a fowlr tank, assuming you're not dosing anything. Do you have good surface agitation? Are you running a skimmer? Is the tank located in a small enclosed room you spend a lot of time in? Does the pH fluctuate throughout the day?

It’s in my living room I have an octo skimmer, fans pointed at the top of water for agitation, and an ATS… it’s a 210g tank

you know I was wondering the same. I am setting up a 200/275 FOWLR
I heat the house with firewood most days. tank is about 15 feet or so from it.
curious to see where my PH lands

I would DBL check the PH probe with a test kit. just to be sure.
one can always bring in fresh out side air into the skimmer. that is my back up plan.

If you have good gas exchange then either your ph probe is bad or you have a massive amount of co2 in your home. If the probe is accurate, then the co2 might be high enough to cause health problems for humans and pets.

I have a 230 gallon heavily stocked fowlr. 3 months ago my pH was significantly lower but orp was significantly higher. I was running a ton of bio pellets in my bio reactor and the water wasn’t ever crystal clear. I’ve cut back on the pellets significantly, switched carbon to chemipure blue, started using reef snow for clarity.

Orps gone down, pH has gone up…fish seemed happy regardless.

What’s the measured alkalinity?

Check your ALK and NO3. Nitrification lowers your ALK in turn your PH is affected. I was at NO3 80ppm and ALK 1.9dkh, I started then dosing ALK in my FOWLR.
