Is this a good price for Kessil

I found a pair of Kessil a360WE lights, tank mount and controller for $500. He says about 2 years old, Is that a good price? I don't have any coral yet and won't for a few more months, but if it's a good price..

I think your getting the shaft. I wouldn't pay more then $250 for the entire setup.

Like I said above, it's a pretty good deal assuming they are in good working order. Depending on how they were hung, there could be a ton of salt creep inside (its coated in epoxy). I've serviced several 160s that looked like they've never been cleaned.

Inspect the diodes, turn them to 100 color and low intensity and make sure all of the matrix lights up as over time they may burn out and not light up or light up partially. It's hard to tell without actually looking at the cluster when it's on.

'About 2 years old' means the warranty has or is close to expiring. I've had a bunch of these and not found them to be all that enduring. They buildup dust and lint, which cannot be easily removed without fully disassembling the lights. Buildup reduces the effectiveness of the heat sink and the lights can fail. $500 is a reasonable ask, and you might get years of service from them …. or one could fail tomorrow. I would not personally buy them used.

It’s a good deal. Led will last a long time.
You can easily get another 5yrs out of those lights.

I just bought them new a couple/three weeks ago...otherwise I'd be all over that....would have saved well over $400.

i have the long flex arms that I dont need - mounted them in hood so never used arms..so will sell cheap too

350- 400 is a good deal. Anything more isn't really a good deal. IMO, Never more than 1/2 price unless there is a warranty.

Having shopped around for several a360we lights lately, this is a really good deal. Kessil a360 is about $200-225 with the mounts, and then, just throwing this out there, like $50 for the controller since those are $99 new. As others have mentioned, I'd try to talk them down a little bit but still would feel comfortable paying $500 for that.

I think its reasonable, but I would check the MFR date on the lights just to make sure his claim of age add up and ask for pictures. As @ca1ore stated, check for dirt or buildup in the heat sink holes.

Cheaper? He’s asking for $500 for two lights with mounts AND the tank. Doesn’t get much cheaper imo...and the controller...

Kessil does MAP pricing on their units. I am super skeptical that these are in fact new. I am thinking these are ones someone has refurbished so they can technically sell them under "new condition". Because I can guarantee you these have no warranty through Kessil. They may be good lights. I am just saying, I highly doubt them to be "brand new".
