I think this one is a normal Gem Tang:

I see a standard gem tang and a standard gem tang with unique line markings, which are showing up every once in a while now.

No hybridization there.

When stressed, or at night, gems show those white patches. Also Mauritius and Madagascar gems are subtly different. Latter seem to have somewhat less distinct spots and a yellower tail.

Sorry to bump this up....... Didn’t want to start a new topic. My Gem, who swims/eats/seems great, had 2-3 large white streaks on each side when I turned the lights on this morning....... They went away after 10 minutes probably.....

So this is normal???

Yes, it is normal. Rather like the white patches on the naso at night.

Thanks. I wasn’t aware of the Naso’s patches either! Either way..... With no more planned additions (it wasn’t planned as it was) hopefully it just stays healthy and happy
