Thanks

I've seen couple crawling around my tank at night too and was wondering the same thing.....

It doesn't appear to have a shell from the back. I had to take the picture from the other side of the tank and all my laghts aren't ramped up yet.

As long as he's a good guy...
I haven't seen one of these in my tank before and have lost a clam so I question it.

Thank you :)

Stomatella have shells internally. I would say that is what it is. Good guy to have for your tank. No way IMO did this have anything to do with the clam. It could be a number of different things like pyramid snails or pinched mantle. There is a lot of good info in the clam forum to check out. Hope that helped.

I have tons of them, I don't even use turbo snails any more because of these guys. No more knocked over corals.

Wow... I would love to do the same knowing this. Though I have never seen these snails in local lfs. I'm guessing the hermits won't bother them either? My hetmits tend to kill all my turbos :(

Yes this did help, thank you! I have checked and rechecked for pyramids but I didn't see any. I'll have to go see what pinched mantle is.

I don't have a lot of hermits but the ones I have tend to leave them alone. Mine came in some live rock as hitch hikers. They multiply at a decent rate.

The hermits wont bother this guy, he has no shell for them to steal.
