Newish hammer (a month) from new coral store. It just finished splitting into two heads. Is this just retracting it’s polyps or is it bjd starting? Took some goop from it a few days ago. This is what it looks like under the microscope.
thanks for any info from you experienced people.

BJD would kill that coral in 24 to 48 hours with obvious oozing of jelly in the dead heads. BjD can be imported into the tank or caused by bad tank parameters which weaken the stresses coral immune system. You can frag off diseased heads to save a coral too. I typically see BJD starting on one-sided and working across the coral head and 24 hours later dead.

Doesn't look like it, but also doesn't look super happy. Its not uncommon for euphyllia to look strange when splitting.

Can you get a clear picture of the tissue surrounding the skeletal head?

I will try after lights off tonight. Thanks for the help. Want to remove it, if there is any chance.

Unable to get a good shot. It split! Your right, it looks strange. Might still have some type of fungus. Thanks!!
