I got this boxfish yesterday. It was delivered and before I bought it it looked fine and didn’have white spot. It still acts fine and eats. I am not sure if it is ich because the spots are big and greyish.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

The spots do look large and gray, and I don't see any spots on the fins (another way to tell ich). However, those spots are not normal either, and this species is prone to getting ich. Do you have it in a treatment/quarantine tank?

Welcome to R2R

almost looks like its natural patterning, some yellow boxfish do have white spots, were the spots always there or did they appear after acquiring him? IME boxfish don't do well in quarantine, by feeding foods soaked in Selcon i was able to eradicate ich on my boxfish within a few weeks without medication.
just my opinion as ive owned many of these fish.

The spots I see coincide with normal pigments of boxfish. These fish as well as cowfish are very difficult and even at my LFS, I found quickly should not be sold on the hobby. They are normal one day and quickly decline.
As for selcon- Selcon helps with vitamin needs and fatty acids and can help boost the immune system but does Not cure parasites nor does the manufacturer make this claim.

Hi,
I have the same on my Yellow box fish .
Bought fish in December as it grown I noticed spots .
Only in few places , don’t change location and not on Finns.
Fish looks super happy, active , smart , interacts with people … oh and have a very good appetite!
Same spots for 5 months now .
Whatever it is I won’t touch and stress my Box fish with dangerous treatments which may be lethal.
Need to know what it is to be able to choose a treatment.
Can you please send un update on your Yellow Boxfish ?
Much appreciated

Normal pigment but can raise concern for those not aware
