I added this Trumpet coral in 6 days ago. It was doing well up until now.

I just noticed that this one portion of the coral is secreting white stringy mucus. Is this a normal reaction when moving an LPS into a new tank?

Also, i just noticed some small vermetid snails on it :/

I wish I could give tank parameters, but don't have a hanna tester yet. I purchased one online after seeing this. I can say for sure that salt and temp are stable and proper.

Not looking for an answer as to how to fix it, as I know the answer depends several variables. However, my only question is whether or not this is a normal reaction to a new tank.

Also, the fact that it is localized to that single polyp rather than the entire makes me believe that this a stress response from the vermetid snail, rather than a tank wife water quality issue. My softies are thriving (This is my only LPS coral)

IMO if it was added 6 days ago it should not still be sloughing IMO. The coral looks stressed to me. Very unlikely bothered by the vermatid IMO. Alkalinity is the most important parameter when getting into corals, I would get a test asap, salifert is also good. Nitrate and Phosphate are also important to know. What is your lighting like?

I agree that you need to get some test kits. I have always used Red Sea and Salifert and never had trouble with those kits.
