I have a small 3 gallon tank sitting around and I need to quarantine my green chromis. Is this set up ok or should I get a small hang on filter for it. Also I have a screen top for it. Just trying to make sure I do this right

Great start! I personally would utilize a hang on filter. Remove the carbon from the media just run floss. I would put a air stone on the end of the air line with a suction cup to hold it down. I would consider a hard top not a screen top. Salt creep will be a huge sore spot with just a screen. Don’t forget some hiding places I use a couple of rocks. Some use pvc.
