Is this ordinary behavior for fish?

I have 1 clownfish in my reef system after a nitrate spike wiped out the rest of my livestock in september, and I have no idea if this has anything to do with that? But my clown seems to have a hard time finding food everyday. I noticed he's been doing this for atleast few months, and when I first bought him, he would rush to the surface for food, but recently when I put in some thawed mysis and brine shrimp with a pipette, he seems to not notice at all unless there is food directly in front of his face. I can tell he is looking for the food as by the time he is aware there is food, he swims around for several minutes grabbing any food he can with excitment and energy, yet still swims past every piece of food that's not already one centimeter away from his mouth.

Tried target feeding but no difference. Could something be wrong with his eyes maybe? Even though this has been happening for a long time now, I just never thought it was a big deal only because he is growing, shows good color and good energy.

It sounds like it is getting food somehow, somewhere. You may want to not feed for a couple of days. Also you may try other food options.
