Is this reef safe

Blue tiger fish , saw it at the lfs this weekend, I was told reef safe with caution ,

Looks like a Blue Line Trigger, possibly stressed as the black markings are throwing me a little bit.

That said, generally not reef safe. Will eat most inverts (snails, crabs, shrimp, urchins, etc) and possibly small fish. It also gets about 20 inches or so

Very cool looking fish! I would think any invert or small fish is food. They get massive like 2ft massive. That alone will be most likely unsafe for a reef haha.

Blue-lined triggerfish, Pseudobalistes fuscus. It can grow to over 18" long. I wouldn't suggest it. While it won't directly eat coral like an angelfish or butterflyfish, it will attempt to re-arrange anything in the tank. This means that coral will be turned over, broken, and chewed on while the fish moves it around. It will also devour small fish and invertebrates. On top of that, it will rapidly become very hostile to other fish. It would probably do best in a 300+ gallon with other large and aggressive fish. I hope that this helps!

never mind , i dont have a tank or the equipment to keep a fish that big, thanks for the info.

They are beautiful fish!! I had a small one years ago in a 90 fish only tank but traded him back the lfs when we decided to go reef. I’d absolutely love to have another in a big fowlr tank.
