I started noticing a decline in my cotton candy torch. Is this a goner? I can post params later but I am at work. My salinity was a little low .023 but I am slowly rising it back to .025. It hasn’t seemed to be happy for about a week now. I have two other torches and one looked pretty unhappy as well but it seemed to bounce back. Thanks

Looks even worse now, kinda looks like poly bailout? I think it’s a goner :(

Well it’s toast, pretty sure it’s brown jelly. I tried my best to frag a portion and put it in my 10 gallon.

ooof sorry. Hope it fragged “well” with whatever you used. It’s good to remove largely infected heads. Removing as much bjd as possible and dipping cipro, iodine or h2o2. I’ve heard a lot about KFC dip (3x medications) but have never tried that; seems to work for those that dedicated a tank to that.

I’d personally do iodine if you happened to splinter fragged her.

Yep I did a dip before I fragged. I transferred it to some of my tanks water (I do water changes on Wednesday) so I used some of this. I gave it a little shake and a good bit of flesh fell off. After fragging it I saw the brown.

It’s in my other tank at the moment but it’s my 10 gallon I don’t do as much maintenance on. Chat gpt said to possibly dip it again now that it’s fragged.

I did find the cause of the problem I believe. I started auto dosing alkalinity and i checked and nothing was dosing. I cleared the air out and it’s back to normal. 100 dollar mistake haha. I normally sit around 8.3 and it was 7.7. I’m just hoping all my other torches and hammers survive if it was BJD.

I don't think its brown jelly if you didn't notice it, its unmistakable. It literally looks like someone took a large spoonful of brown jelly and plopped it right on top of the coral, once you see it you will be like "oh, thats brown jelly"

Hm could have been bacteria or something but it was totally loosing flesh rapidly. Only noticed skeleton yesterday or the day before and within that day it lost all but one head. Sad days

Alk going from 8.3 to 7.7 isn't a big deal. Would not cause the problem you saw. BJD or some other infection IMO
