Good afternoon and Happy 4th of July

This system has been running for about 2 months, with most of the corals and livestock transferred over from my previous 25-gallon Innovative Marine Lagoon. Everything has adjusted really well, and it’s been awesome watching the tank settle in and start to take off.

Unfortunately, the journey hasn’t been without setbacks. I lost most of my fish to what I believe was marine velvet, which was tough to go through. Thankfully, my wrasse and tang pulled through and are doing great. It’s definitely been a learning experience, and I’m looking forward to rebuilding the fish population the right way.

Current Equipment:

* Inkbird Temperature Controller
* 500W Heater
* Dalua 800 GPH Return Pump
* Dalua 2500 GPH Wavemaker
* Dalua Illumagic X4 LED
* 10-Gallon Innovative Marine ATO Reservoir

I’m still working on dialing in my lighting setup and making small adjustments as the corals continue to settle in. Reef tanks are always evolving, and I’m enjoying learning what works best for this system.

Overall, I’m really happy with how everything is performing. The coral growth, polyp extension, and stability have been better than I expected, and I can’t wait to see what this reef looks like in another six months.

Always welcome constructive criticism and tips and tricks. Always good to get different opinions to help each other succeed,

Good looking tank, I’m following your build thread :-)

One comment is that a 500 watt heater is way too big for a 25 gallon, even with the controller. It’s a large and unnecessary draw on the electric circuit, and if anything goes wrong with the controller you’re going to get a seafood boil 🙃

Take a look at this recent post as an example:

Good luck with your build!

This is a very good poster shared. I may look at getting a smaller one I was just struggling with the temperature swings from the summer

Typically, it's suggested to shoot for around 3 to 5 watts/gallon, with larger tank leaning closer to the 3 watts/gallon end of the scale. Obviously, if you have a particularly chilly room that can affect things too.

By the way, are you from the real Rochester in NY, or one of the other, lessor, imposter Rochesters?

Hello! Any pics of your reef?
I don't have a lot going on right now. This is my most recent build, an IM 25 lagoon. It's been running over a year now, and nothing but issues 🙃 I went on a vacation some time ago, came back to a massive outbreak of dino's that wiped out nearly all the first round of frags I had. I've been slowly getting it back in order, slowly adding a few more pieces that have been doing well, so I am likely to order more frags this weekend as a lot of shops are having a sale. There's earlier pics of this build in the link in my sig, if you're interested.
