Looking good! I'm getting ready to crank mine up. I setup stands like you did but with 2 levels. I hope it holds up, I put enough glue on it to sink a ship
Now to dial in the dosers! Really looking forward to see some results from trying these out.
Also added an ATO to the system.
After the install I found out the little pump can't quite push enough water with the head pressure. Easy fix, though I should have checked before going overboard with zip ties!
Gotcha. I know it is a hike from you, but school of fish has the whole line. They have been carrying it since November so they extremely knowledgeable on the product.
Did some water tests today and I am hoping to alter a few levels. I would like my alkalinity and magnesium down a bit.
Current: Red Sea kit
Calcium = 520
Kh = 10
Mag = 1600 API kit
Nitrate = 0
Phos = .25 Hanna Checker
Calcium = 535
I would like my Alk around 9 and the Mag around 1100-1200.
Hoping the switch from Reef Crystal to Aquaforest Reef Salt (coming soon) will help adjust things.
I currently have it in the tank on the back right corner.
However, I am leaning to trying to use the second chamber with the return pump.
I added a Tunze 9001 skimmer. It fits like a glove next to the overflow box.
I am hoping the skimmer and ato will add stability to the tank as I am having mixed results. Most Zoas/Palys and LPS are doing well but SPS are hit or miss. Some are looking great and others....not so much!
How have your parameters been fluctuating? Consider using only Kalk mixed with the ato reservoir? I'm going to be setting mine up soon once I build a stand for it.
They are just a bit higher than ideal. Calc @ 525 Mag @ 1600 and kH @ 10. The only thing being dosed into the tank was a bit of kalk at the start but for the last week I have just used rodi for top-off. I plan on switching to AF Reef salt very soon and think that will bring the numbers down to a more ideal range. Once the numbers are in order I will start with AF Components 1,2,3.
Price point for the Reef Salt vs RC isn't that bad actually. On Amazon the 200 gallon box (@ 1.021 sg) is 49.99 with free shipping via prime. The AF Reef Salt is 59.99 making approximately 200 gallons at 1.024 sg.
So if you go with about 190G out of the RC box it comes out to $ .26 per gallon.
And 190G out of the AF Reef Salt box it comes out to $ .31 per gallon.
At a price difference of $ .05 per gallon I think it is worth a shot!
