Hey CTARS members, Jimbo's Gumbos is looking for honest reviews on their product.

Please post in this thread if you have used it, and what your thoughts were.

If you're interested in trying it, PM me.

For those that have used this and LRS Reef Frenzy, does Jimbo's Gumbo stay in larger chunks like Reef Frenzy, or does it break down into smaller particles that can be easily fed with a pipette?

Very comparable to both of those. I like the type of algae that's in this better, it looks like ulva. Everything likes it in my tanks it was a feeding frenzy.

If it were just a tad cheaper, i would buy a ton more and feed it exclusively. It's nice and clean, you don't have to rinse it like pe mysis.

Drop this to $8 for the 4oz package and i bet you'd not be able to keep it in Stock!

One of the LFS near me (A CTARS sponsor!) has just started carrying it. I thought about scoring some while there this evening, but I'm a tad overstocked on frozen food as it stands - and that blenny was _so_ much more tempting!

Did finally pick up some of Jimbo's Reef Gumbo, but have not had the same experience with it as some of the other folks in the thread. I found that it breaks up less readily than Rod's or LRS (I have to stir the RO/DI containing it with a fork, or it goes into the tank in a block), and that there are some bits that some of my fish seem to have trouble with. For example, in my QT there are several damsels, an orange-spot blenny, a 3.5" or so powderblue tang, a yellow longnose butterfly, a 6" regal angel, and a 5" striped parrotfish. There are some bits that they'll take up and spit out repeatedly, and finally ignore.

I do think it's a good food mix, it's just more densely packed, and not my fish's favorite. (I have weird fish. In that QT, almost _nobody_ will eat nori, but in my display, the fairy wrasses and dartfish go nuts for the stuff!)

I think the Gumbo is terrific but as Maritimer indicated it is densely packed. I let mine thaw a little and then chop it up into much smaller pieces. Then the fish just devour it. By the way, will there be fish gumbo (not reef) at the meeting?
