Alright I have been surfing on here for a few weeks and figured I would give everybody a look at the build I recently completed. I have just gotten back into the hobby after a couple of year break from salt. When I got back in I purchased a biocube 29. I had always played with bigger tanks but I had always been intrigued by the nanos. I did all the little mods I had read about including shoving a halide in the hood. Soon I was addicted again.

Anyway I began to run out of room in the biocube so I started thinking about another tank. I knew I wanted it to be 30g or less also. I decided this go around I didn't want another AIO but wanted something with a sump. I did a little research and also knew I wanted a halide. So I asked myself what would be the best tank for a single 150 MH and of course the 30 cube instantly came to mind.

I picked up a 30 cube that alreay had a 1' bulkhead drilled locally and lucked out that it was the light maple colored one. I knew that I also wanted a custom stand because I dont like the oceanic stand then the build was on and this is what I eneded up with

  • thirty gallon reef ready oceanic cube
  • aqua clear systems sump approx 10-12 gallons
  • mag 5 return plumbed into a SCWD and 2 returns
  • coralife ss 65 skimmer
  • 150w sunpod HQI
  • korallia 1 and nano
  • 2-100w stealth heaters
  • DIY stand
  • DIY overflow

Good job on the stand. Tank looks great where you placed it.

Closer shots as you fill in with corals.

Thanks, I still have a bunch of plans for it. I want to get a reefkeeper and I still need to add the ATO. Here are a couple of more corals that are in there.

Nice additions!
Thanks, I am trying to keep this tank for mostly rarer corals

Oh, I forgot to mention the frogspawn I moved over from my other tank LOL. I threw it in there to see if my clowns might host it.

OK so here are some updated pics. I am taking my biocube down to build a 40 breeder so all the corals from it went in. Its a little packed but after I found room for everything I really like it.

Well I finally got a fuge installed. I picked up a drilled 2.5g From a LFS in my area that was closing :(. I installed a mini jet 404 and gravity drained it back into the sump. I dont have any pics of it with the substrate and chaeto yet. I also picked up a DJ power supply and installed it so I dont have to unplug the pumps when needed. I can just flip a switch.

Ok I upgraded to a 250w pendant about three weeks ago and ditched the sunpod. I'm running a 250w PFO penedant and ballast with a pheonix 14k. My corals have never looked better.
