Kalk is low cost, keeps Alkalinity & Calcium in check and helps PH. Do you use it?

Hi Randy!

I take it you are implying that you measured your addiction of kalkwasser with a ec meter? If so what reading you are looking for to know that kalk is at max saturation?

Saturation is about 10.3 mS/cm at 25 deg C.

Potency is about linear with conductivity below that.

The day I put my first coral in, I turned my FX-STP doser on (only 1 ml per min). I put a half dozen corals in and Kalk has supported me up to the 50ish I have now :)

I started dosing kalk a few months ago pushing water from my ato bucket through the reactor and having it drip into the return section of my sump. I currently have the DOS setup to dose 2500ml/day in my 125 gallon dt with 30 gallon sump. Question is for the people that dose kalk this way how often do you top off or dump and replace the kalk in the reactor? I have a Trident so I currently wait until my alk starts to drop before topping off with more kalk and then dump it and replace with new about every month to month and a half. I may install a ph probe in the reactor and top off or replace when the ph starts dropping in there.
