I wanted to test out the impact of Kalkwasser vs. 3 part on my 340 gallon reef. Yesterday I threw my top off pump in a 5 gallon pale mixed with Kalk at 2 teaspoons per gallon.
I shut off my dosers to baked baking soda, calcium chloride, and MGCL and MG Sulfate.
I let it top off from the 5 gallon pale from 1PM - 11 PM. PH climbed by .05 in 2 hours. Yesterday morning it was around 7.9. By 11 pm it was at 8.40.
I put the top off pump back in fresh water, didn't want to overdose overnight (and turned dosers back on). I checked alk and it was 8.9, the same as it was yesterday.
I'm amazed at the Potency on PH! I'll definitely have to meter the dosing because I didn't realize how much evaporation I had going on. The top off was running every 5 minutes. It only ran for 3-4 seconds each time.
