While wearing my R2R shirt tonight, I went out to eat with my family to Kawa Sushi here in Livermore, CA (a common enough event for us). While there, a fellow reefer came in, commented on my shirt, and sat at the table next to us. We chatted a bit and I tried to get your screen name before we left.
Unfortunately, my phone decided to loose the screen name you shared with me (and I have a horrible memory for verbal stuff), so I lost the contact. :-(

Here's to hoping that you see this and reply; would be great to know another local R2R member!

Yup; I'm part of BAR. I've been to a frag swap in San Jose once back in the early days. It was a good event and I've no complaints; scored lots of corals to start me off (though that is where I ended up getting my Xenia from before I knew better...).
Unfortunately, most of BAR seems to happen in the South Bay. Being in Livermore (and worse - moving out to Lathrop in a few weeks) makes that quite a haul that I have a hard time justifying (especially with a 4yr old and 2yr old to help care for). Ever since the closure of the LFS in Dublin, I've shifted to entirely online supplies and livestock. Wish it wasn't so, but the drive distances just aren't worth it...
I do feel the lack of face-to-face community at times, however. And with the move to the new house, I'm loosing my trained tank sitter. So I figure it's a good time to reach out of my hermit shell a little and see if I can't get to know a few of the local reefers.

So; hi. How ya' doing? ;-)
