Hey, y'all. I took some par readings on my RSR 625. I thought I'd post them here, in case someone else could use the information. The tank is 59x25x25. There are 4 Kessil A360X, mounted 12 inches apart, centered on the tank ( |-- X -- X -- X -- X -- |, each double dash is 12"). The lights are mounted approximately 6" above the water line. The DSB is 4-6". At the time I took the readings, the lights were at 85% intensity, 30% color, and 50% violet. A SQ-420 was used to take the readings.

Thanks for doing that. That's very useful information. I was thinking of Kessils vs AI's vs Reefi's for my tank.

@cloggins What type of mount did you use for your Kessil lights? What does your lighting schedule look like as well?

I'm using the 4 of the Kessil A-series mounting arms.
Working from memory, my schedule is as follows...
  1. Total lighting period is 0800-2200.
  2. Violet is pretty much 20-30% the whole time.
  3. Color is 30% almost the entire time.
  4. 20% intensity by 0900
  5. 80% by 1000
  6. 85% by 1100
  7. 85% at 1700
  8. 20% by 2000
  9. 0% at 2200.

6-7 inches.
Thats sounds about right since anything higher and there will be alot of light spill. I currently have 2 on my 4ft tank and get about 250-300 PAR on my top rock work which is more then enough for most sps. I wanted to add more but cant due to the fact that my rimmed tank has a csnter brace.

I’m in the same boat. I wish I could afford 4 for my 4ft, haha.

That was one reason I went w/ rimless. I didn't want a center brace. Then, I added a screen... Go figure.

It was a hard bill to get over. But, I wanted something idiot proof, reliable, and cool running. The Kessils seemed to fit the bill.
