Hey guys, just getting into it . I’ve been cycling my tank for 3 days now and wanted to start dozing Red Sea Coralline Grow. Instructions are a bit confusing to me so reaching out for help. How much do I need to start dosing on a 20 gallon? I appreciate your insight and help here!!!

Light , calcium and flow contribute to coraline
Products that state coraline growth sometimes work

Geting salty? Welcome.

Red Sea Coralline GRO is essentially an alkalinity supplement with some trace elements like potassium included. I wouldn't recommend dosing it until you have something in the tank that is going to consume the alkalinity that you will be adding. Also I would only use it after the tank is fully cycled and "stable". You will also need to have Coralline in the tank already.

welcome and excited for you and your journey

as above, light flow and Ca and a little age on the tank are all critical. You will see coraline grow on the pump heads early and often. I for one would wait a couple of months before spending the hard earned cash.

Welcome! Glad you joined. Seems early for coralline anything and above already has some info; I defer to them above as I'm unfamiliar with that particular product ... I love Red Sea products though

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

welcome! as already suggested, it would be best to just let the tank cycle and once it is stable, you can start dosing that.

i used the bottle from algaebarn once my tank was cycled. did it work? maybe. did i need to dose it? probably not as i have coralline algae growing anyways.

I always put a few small CHEAP hard corals (sps lps) in the tank and dose a soda ash 2 part at very small amounts until the dkh goes over what I want then back down from that and basically try to slowly dose 2 part and In a couple months it will take off but you need corals in there to help... Absolutely my own opinion but it helps to be dosing some 2 part in the first few months to aid things to move forward..

WELCOME @frankg to REEF2REEF !!!! If you've already bought your bottles of Red Sea Reef Mature program I'd use them up instead of seeding your tank with coralline algae growth until you're done with your cycle. If you have difficulties with the instructions I'd seek help in R2R's chemistry forum or just contact RS. They have great customer service.
