Hey everyone, just got a 125 tank for my parents house. They bought everything used from a friend so I'm going to slowly work on the tank and try to replace all the equipment with new stuff as time goes on. So far we have gotten the tank cleaned nicely and have been working on making the water to start filling. My mom has decided the stand does not match so we are on hold until she strips it and repaints.... Here is some eye candy for now until things get going, hopefully tonight when i get off work! IMG_7862.JPG IMG_7903.jpg IMG_7891.jpg

Seeing as we bought the tank used, it already came with some equipment. Cant really decipher what brand most of it is but I do know we are working with a 750 gph pump and a JBJ Trinity T5 light. I plan on changing a majority of the equipment out so here is what I plan on getting:

  • If T5 system works to my liking I will get two LED's to cover each end, either two Radions XR15 one for each side, or two AI Prime since I already have one extra of those.
  • Reef octopus Classis 150INT
  • 2 VorTech MP40
  • Tunze ATO

As far as stocking goes these are the ones I'm thinking about but none are set yet:
  • Pair of clowns
  • Yellow Tang
  • Hippo Tang
  • Foxface
  • Six Line Wrasse
And finally my main focus is corals. Im definitely doing mixed reef and plan to frag my own current corals to put in this tank once it is fully up and running. I also will have a 40 gal soon to be growing out my own frags in as well.

Working on getting the water in, lights were not working but we were able to replace the switches for them, the old ones seem to have burned out (good thing I've got an electrician for a dad).Testing them out to make sure they all work and everything seems to be going good so far. IMG_7911.JPG

Finally got it completely filled today with the stand looking good, had to use a HOB overflow with it which is not my favorite but we will take what we can get. IMG_7914.jpg IMG_7917.JPG

So we had a powerhead on one side of the tank rated at 1765 GPH, the rock work definitely broke that up a bit so we purchased another powerhead for the opposite side at 700 GPH just to add some extra flow in there. Once everything clears up ill be sure to get a final photo of the aquascape.

It's been awhile since I've updated so here we go. I had an insane algae issue that nobody could seem to identify but vibrant ended up taking care of it after about 3 doses. As of now nothing much for changes in the tank, still looking for a good deal on a skimmer so I'm not too upset that the tank isn't super beautiful yet. Now onto the good stuff photos!
