Hello all,
For some background info, my tank is 65g and the Kole tang has been in the tank for around 8 months. I have had no problems until last week when I noticed a bit of his tail fin was missing. I thought he had ripped it somewhere and assumed it would heal. I went on a week-long vacation assuming he was fine. I came back and the rip was larger. I am assuming this is fin rot. Please educate me on how to treat him as I have never had a fish disease issue believe it or not. I have a 10g quarantine tank available but I don’t think it will be big enough for treating him. Will I have to isolate him? What meds do I need? The tank mates are a six line wrasse and a clownfish. I have been feeding him nori about every other day, I should feed him more. The fish also get fed by an automatic feeder with piscine energetics pellets. Should I order Selcon? Thank you for reading this if you’ve made it this far. Here are some pictures, parameters will come soon:
Thank you!!

A bit hard to see. Any discoloration around the tear? If it’s increasing then it could be bacterial.

Any aggression by the clown?

To treat, assuming it is bacterial, yes you would be better off isolating and treating with metro, kanaplex and furan.

Adding vitamins to food and increasing feeding is always a good idea. Kole tangs also like algae wafers.

Looks like healing from aggression. Typical fin rot would be raggedy as if someone tore a rag or cloth and that edge that you get.

There is some brown discoloration closer to the base of the tail. Thank you so much for responding quickly! Sorry for the bad photo quality, I’ll try to get some better ones.

Without a closeup photo it’s hard to distinguish different causes. Discoloration is often an accompanying sign of bacterial infection, whether primary or secondary, treatment may be warranted.

I got some more photos. He is very shy, so these are the best photos from my “photo shoot”. Circled in blue is the discoloration that I see. It is a darker brown than his normal fin color.

Still looks like aggression damage. melafix or myacin will heal this up or if not affected will heal on its own
