Sorry for the wait for my tank build. Unfortunately, the original 40 gallon sprung a leak on the bottom seals and I had to rebuild another one.

This was the original build

It had a ghost overflow
Flow : Jacod DC 4000 return pump
Jebao pp8s
Lights: ViparSpectra 300 w 80% blues 15% whites
Protein skimmer: Bubble Magus curve 5

That is it! Keeping it simple with carbon Dosing and hand dosing for alk, calcium and mag along with regular water changes.

This is the upgraded version with a durso bottom drain still the same equipment. I had to build a new stand because of the water damage the leak caused.

PS: we have a toddler running around the house so the sump is under lock and key.

Update:
The filter socks and sock holder from Amazon came in the mail today!

My filtration is still kept simple with a filter sock, an oversized protein skimmer and live rock rubble in the sump and vodka for carbon dosing.

I'm currently looking into making something to hold on to media bags for carbon etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Update: Everyone is doing well in the system. Installed a kalkwasser drip system to replenish calcium and alkalinity and taking 2 ml of vodka daily. I found an old Marineland maxijet 1200 in my garage and Incorporated it in the system. It added very good surface agitation while sitting behind the rock work shooting all the way from the bottom of the tank.

Looks awesome. I am attempting to do something like yours. Do you love your lighting? Or would you do something different if you could do it again. I am looking for one for SPS mainly and want to be able to adjust it easily.

I like it. It's the 300 w ViparSpectra and it's only turned on at 30% blues and 1% whites. I've gotten some decent growth over the past couple of months. I'm more concerned of over lighting than anything lol.

We had a minor tank crash due to negligence. We are working on bouncing back. We decided to cut back on the rocks. We also lowered the intensity of the lights down by 10% hopefully the corals recover.
