Kuiteri wrasse keeps going in and out of sand

I've had leopard wrasses before, but when my kuiteri digs into the sand at night, she/he (transitioning) pops back out, and tries new spots like 3-4 times before she finally settles down. She's the biggest of my 3 leopards. Does anyone else see this behavior with their leopard wrasses? Prior to this, I had various halichoeres, and bipartus leopards. None of them exhibited this behavior. Once in a while the meleagris will do this, but no more than like once. The potters just dives right in, but she's also the smallest.

I'm guessing one of two things. My sand bed is too shallow in some spots (although it covers her from what I've seen), or she doesn't like how coarse it is. It's Tropic Eden Reefflakes.

It's definitely not too coarse. It could be too shallow. However, the third option is it could be stirring up the sand searching for food.

It'll go with simply not liking that spot.

Haha it’s just looking for that perfect spot. Maybe make your sandbed deeper if you think it’s that.

My male Anampses chrysocephalus does this all day long looking for pods.
