Hello,

My yellow wrasse has intermittently been scrapping himself against the sand bed. I know this can be a symptoms of parasites particularly marine velvet. He is eating fine. No changes in behavior. Breathing normal. There are no spots on him.

Can this scrapping behavior be a NORMAL behavior for a wrasse?

Thanks.

If infrequent, likely picking up things as stated above... both of mine "swipe" at rockwork and sand bed from time to time. They eat small pests

If its a flick of the sandbed(looks very similar to flashing), then you notice it going back into the "plume" it just kicked up, then it's just trying to kick up something to eat. This is common behavior of pest hunting wrasse(I'm going to assume your "yellow wrasse" is H. Chrysus).

Otherwise it may be anything from a parasite, to flukes, to ?.
