my 120 gallon saltwater tank has been running for 6 weeks with 3-4 gallons of make up RODI water added about once per week. When should I do a major saltwater change? How many gallons should a change during routine water changes? Most of what I see online says 15-20%. The guy I bought the tank from said he changed 50 gallons about once per month. Thanks for any recommendations.

Some do weekly, some bi-weekly, some not at all. Just depends on your tank's needs and demands. 10-15% every two weeks is a common thing people do.
