I have powdery growth that shows up on my sand bed when the lights are on. It will populate the glass as well. It’s stringy a bit when it builds up on the glass scraper, and goes away almost completely at night.

Is there some where I can send a sample to determine what it actually is?

How long has your tank been running?

OP's recent thread says tank hasn't been up long, which is why I asked... Lots of stuff can grow during the uglies and rarely does anything need to be done besides have patience.
Tank has been up for years but I moved it a week ago to my house. Used new sand. It could def be the uglies but I’m very curious. I might try the aquabiomics route just to see what I’m working with.

Fair enough. But when I upgraded my tank, I used all my old rock and all new sand, and had diatoms for about a month... The silicates in the sand were feeding them.

Good to know! Attached are some pics. Are the trapped bubbles synonymous with Dino’s? Looks a little more scary that diatoms but idk.
