I got a small hermit crab a while back and I'm starting to worry about it. It has gotten huge in the short amount of time I'v had it. It is a great hermit crab though never has caused any trouble and is great at cleaning up. What type is it should I be worried?

IMO he will only kill your snails for growth shells. I'd have 5 or 6 empty shells for him to change into.

Just got a larger shell for him at the store and all the snails I have wild be to small for him. That picture is from a month ago he is bigger now. I will get a better picture later. Also if this helps it has green eyes striped antenna and reddish pink body with dots.

All right got some picture finally sorry it took a while I was sick most of the week.

A pen is in this picture for size comparison however it did not work properly because they are at different depths.

This was the shell he was in yesterday he has switched back to the smaller one now.

This is Dardanius species of hermit crab. Its not reef safe can grow upto maximum size of 5inches. and will prey on even fishes, as it is nocturnal will eat sleeping fishes. In my place we get these a lot, and i myself am confused as to how to distinguish between dwarf hermit and a dardanius when it is small.
