Lazarus birdsnest?

I had a frag of neon green Birdsnest that was growing great and doing awesome until it got zapped by some ostreo dinos a couple weeks ago.

I started a multi-pronged dino treatment and resigned to accept that I’d lost the Birdsnest.

However, after a little over a week of fighting the dinos with none in sight my Birdsnest hasn’t given up the ghost. It still has areas with polyps that extend and there’s still a small (tiny) section of neon green at the base.

I’ve read accounts of Birdsnest being surprisingly resilient. How much hope is there that this will recover to anything but a sad brown and white struggling to hang on coral?

Yes I do. A happy coral can change colors and really bounce back.

I cannot guarantee anything. I had a 4 inch bird nest. Busted to pieces. I glued every branch I could. Most went through those phases. Most died or got pulled and hidden by my urchin.
The one that survived infection and the urchin, has grown dramatically these past months.

Keep water params stable. You might be surprised.

I would say you have a fair shot. I lost my birdsnest due to a BTA that decided to take up residence right next to it. It lasted a couple weeks before it finally gave up. Unfortunately I didn’t have the ability to frag it as it was a frag itself and the anemone is still in that spot

Thanks for all the replies. Seeing as how I assumed I would lose it any recovery will be a nice surprise. If it ends up not pulling through it will just be delayed inevitability.

It’s been about a month so thought I’d post an updated pic on this Birdsnest and how it’s been recovering

The closest tips I just cut because they were totally dead and covered in algae. Back one also looks like it could use a snip but it didn’t have algae so for now I’ll let it be.

Hard to see but tissue on top side is mostly green again.

Nice recovery. Just keep an eye on your phos and nitrate levels

Yup have been watching them very close. NO3 rarely moves from about 10 (salifert) and PO4 is usually around .04 (Hanna).
