Hello all,
My 1000litre aquarium has sprung a leak.It drips about every 3 seconds.Im pretty sure Ive found the leak and of course its on the bottom.
Is there ANY way I can patch this huge tank up without shutting it down?Is there any type of silicone or adhesive out there I can use wet?
Any help would be much appreciated

im not sure if it will work but jb weld sells product called waterweld I believe is what it is called. it is available at auto part stores. haven't used it on aquarium but have used it in other applications.

obviously shutting down and resealing is best but patch may give you some time to prepare

Iv always wondered what would the public aquariums use as sealant. I had once seen a video where the diver used some white putty and sealed the crack. I doubt one can empty a public aquarium incase of a leak. U need to ask at a public aquarium. Also iv heard many say that silicones last for 10years, again i wonder what the public aquarium might be using.

Tear it down and properly reseal it.

Do not risk it. I almost burned my house to the ground from a leaky tank that caused a fire. My house had been built for less than 4 months.

Buy new glass. It's just not worth it.
