I thought that the biggest difference between ATI essentials SPS vs mixed reef is that ATI essentials has an inorganic alk source which helps boost PH more in comparison to the mixed reef having a organic carbon-based alk source that is converted by bacteria to alkalinity.

I don't think there's any evidence that an organic carbon based alk source is preferred by LPS as mentioned in the video by Cade...
