Whenever I frag my leather coral I was wondering do I have to take it out of the water or can I keep it in and frag it because I don’t want to take my rock out

I've cut leathers in the tank many times. I've always run carbon and never had any issue's with anything.

How do you get a fragged piece of a leather to attach to a rock?
Usually loose rubber bands or glued in toothpicks. I made a 3d printed solution that is a frag plug basket to keep the frag contained on a plug also.
