Hey all, I’ve been torn on what type of sump I want to run under the stand, and I wanted to see some of the setups everyone is running! Doesn’t matter whether it’s triton method or regular, lets see them!

Also, feel free to give input on pros and cons on your own sump setup. Thanks!

Nope, just a deep sand bed of aragonite. The theory is it was a breeding spot for pods and anerobic bacteria. I don't know how effective it was.
I put one into the bottom of my refugium on my 75DT, but I’m in the process of upgrading to a 180g, I liked knowing I had it but I never really noticed a difference tbh

It’s made by Synergy Reef Systems, and the model is the ShadowBox.

I’m not sure if they make them anymore. I believe it’s from 2014. But new to me lol.

I really like the lid over the sock chamber- it’s reinforced so it doesn’t loose shape like others do.

also it has a clear tube on the top/inside/back panel. The end outside the sump is open, but the rest is sealed water tight. This tube is designed for led lighting to light the sump. This was missing when I got the sump but I’m planning to find something useable, I think that’s a very neat idea to have build into the actual box.

Getting ready to add this sweet Trigger Sapphire 34 to my long awaited new DT. This will replace my old Aqueon Sump. What I hate about the Aqueon sump is the return chamber and skimmer are on top of each other. The skimmer has been hit and miss lately - water high, water low... if it overflows, all the skimmate goes right back to the DT. blech - no thank you. Sapphire will be mechanical sponge before sock - which I will replace with cups with carbon, etc.... then skimmer, then fuge...through the black course sponge to purigen as needed and to the return. Return will go to UV and away we go.

That’s pretty cool, I’ve actually been considering getting a sump from them but I’m not sure if I can justify the price tag yet lol
