Let's see your dosing set up

It's been a while since I calibrated my doser and plan to do it soon. I figured since the doser will be removed for calibration, now would be the time to redo my set up since it's too cluttered. Figured I'd see what you all have done and maybe get some ideas.

My doser in an cabinet next to my aquarium, right now its just dosing nutrients not 2 part as i switched to aws.

But to calibrate i simply remove the lines that connect to my holder and place in a graduated cylinder.

Not the prettiest setup, but functions lol.

Mine's nothing super fancy. Neptune DOS with a special cable that tricks my Apex into thinking there's also a DDR connected to give me fluid monitoring, then the Kamoer dosing reservoirs with the float switches spliced into my BoB, giving me low level monitoring. I love me some Neptune stuff, but I just couldn't justify spending that many chips on the DDR when I could make a somewhat-DIY equivalent (functionality-wise anyway) for a grand total of $30.

Out of curiosity, do you need to worry about a siphon with these pumps? I'm trying to rough out my plans for a DIY style build with Reef-Pi but the idea would be to use very similar motors to commercial setups.

There's no risk of siphoning tank water back out, because the end of the tube would never be submerged in water. Siphoning in the other direction (dosing elements siphoning through the pump into the tank) is possible, but unlikely. The one major rule of thumb is to never have your dosing element containers at a higher height than your dosing pump because of gravity. Even with a setup like that, the design of the pump SHOULD stop it from dumping an entire container of ALK into your tank, since the pumps are essentially choking the line and slightly rotating the choke with each dose. It SHOULD stop right at the choke if a siphon did start, but if it's loose for some reason, there's a chance it could make it to the tank. If you store your dosing reservoirs lower than your dosing unit, then you're safe from a siphon either way.

Functional though, right? Voss bottles here as well. I couldn't find the 800 ml bottles anywhere so had to order through Amazon which was rather interesting. I did find the smaller size which I can use for something that isn't dosed has frequent once I am ready. As my tank matures or if I do end up trying say a clam the 800 ml bottles are already made and ready to go. Also have the Neptune dose system since I have that controller / ecosystem anyway.

Mine is squeezed into the sump of my RSR250. 3 part Aquaforest in a 3 compartment acrylic reservoir and Red Sea NO3:PO4:-X direct from the bottle dosed from two DOS units.

I'm only dosing BRS 2-part at the moment with my Neptune DOS & DDR. I'm considering adding another DOS for potassium nitrate and magnesium.
