I'm considering switching from halides to T5s here in the near future. I was thinking of going with a dimmable ATI 8x 54 watt fixture. Let's see your T5 sps tanks!

Here are some colors for you. Using a Aquactinics Constellation 14 x 39w ATI bulbs. I love the T-5's but eventually may go to LED's once the technology gets a little better.

This Reeftech Starburst Cap looks much better in person. The orange washes out with the camera.

Leds are the way to go technology is already here. If you want to grow sps corals leds will provide the best spectrum you can get. T5 lighting is okay but leds provide much more.

Not sure I meant to say technology is not there for Led's but putting the technology into a better Led system for the best spectrum for our corals. I am particularly interested in SMT Led's and the lack of using "white" Led's in a fixture.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Most led companies can setup what ever combo lighting you like. I have the Orphek pr 156 leds now for about 8 months now after switching from halides and i am seeing lower temps and better coral growth. If you decide to go with leds do your research and don't go for price only.

I'll pass on LEDs, MH with T5 or VHOs are the best way to go for SPS IMO

Truth! I am actually going to MH w/T5's on my new build.

Here are couple of shots of my tank with a 6 bulb T5

ah...back to the popular topic of LEDs vs T5/Halide...that is why I am using combination of LED and T5. 300 watts of LED and 640 watts of T5 over my 350 gallon. It is up and running for two months with no corals yet but am hoping to get good coloration. WHat I like in the current setup is how the light "fills" the whole aquarium because of the T5s (no single source and it lights up the whole tank) but also has the pop from the LEDs...nothing beats how the tank looks in LED actinics.

Sam.

Yes Darwin it's that red, but that's also what the right combo of T5s do. A lot of ligting will give you that rusty brick red flat look
instead of vivid popping reds. You gotta excite the pigments with the correct spectrum and intensity to
get good reds.

T5s excel with all colors.
My current setup is 2 Coral+ and 2 Blue+
