I use my Python hook as many do to introduce mixed saltwater into my tank. Has anyone seen a modification where instead of the water rushing back in and going straight down and disturbing the sand bed, that it go out level with the water level. I'm thinking of something like a 90 degree elbow at the end of the hook or something similar.

Yeah, couldn’t remember the name of it off the top of my head. Thought if it fits, you could angle it any way you wanted. I don’t use a python hook, I just use a vinyl hose and clamp it to the top and turn the pump flow down so it doesn’t hit the sand bed.

Some ideas:

1. PVC elbow + heat shrink if needed
2. Cut a piece of filter sponge and shove it into the outlet (to reduce flow)

Well, probably one of the easiest mods I’ve done. I came home and opened up my pvc bag with all my fittings and plopped on a 1” section of pipe and elbow and Boom, problem solved. No more disturbed sand during refills.

It’s on their pretty snug so I don’t see it coming off anytime soon.
