About half a gallon of copper treated lfs water spilled into my sump, I run carbon in a reactor 24/7. Total water volume is about 170 gallons. Acro dominated tank. I’ve been in the hobby for awhile but literally never worried about copper in my display tank. How worried should I be

Keep an eye on your snails/inverts. But with 170 gallons and half a gallon treated water, while running carbon. I’m pretty sure your tank will be fine :)

Let’s see. Assume 2 ppm copper. Dilution is about 340x, so the added copper might be about 6 ppb. Not a problem, IMO, but running a metal binder might further ease your mind.

Have you already run a test to determine the amount of copper in your tank? It would also be a good idea to add CupriSorb to help remove the copper from your system.

I just used a seachem copper test that showed no copper. I dose trace elements and worry about something like cuprisorb stripping those further. In your opinion, which is the “safer route”?

Acros all still show good polyp extension but my stylo looks really ticked. Could be unrelated I thought I saw a crab climbing on it earlier

Home copper tests aren’t useful except up at medication levels.

I’d personally do nothing. My tank had 13 ppb copper in the past without apparent issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll just monitor
