I just replaced my bulb a week ago and have debated running it without the PVC sleeve. It would be pretty funny if it's effectiveness is basically limited to exactly 365 days.

Do you really mean without a PVC sleeve? Or with the one that is due for replacement?

I'm assuming you mean with the old PVC sleeve, because I don't know why you'd pull the old one out without having a new one.

I ran mine a little while after the recommended 1 year mark. Probably a total of a month or two. Because yeah, you're right. It would be quite funny if they lasted exactly 365 days.

Also, when I replaced the PVC sleeve the other day, I saw zero degradation.
