Light Shades vs No shades

This has probably been posted already but I’m interested in seeing the perks of of light shades, if there are any.

How many use light shades?

If so are they worth it?

What’s the pros and/or cons?

Are you trying to reduce light hitting the tank creatures, or spilling outside the tank?

Shades for me is preventing light spillage outside the tank, and possibly for viewing comfort if you sit near the tank and are exposed to the bottom of the light.

Are you asking about a thing like a lamp shade that goes on a light to prevent light spill outside the tank?

Or are you asking about a thing like a screen that temporarily reduces light entering the tank when light acclimating new creatures?

Could mean canopy to enclose his lights.

@Usarmy227 If you are getting some light outside the tank, it could just be that your lights are mounted up to high above the tank.
