Hello everyone,
. I have been pondering Judd for awhile about this question.
I get the reason why we want a reasonable par rating to the sand less than 200par for a 24in deep tank.
This can be debatable but it seems that the consensus from researching, although it does seem more on the less side of 200par. Lights are 8-16 inches away from the tank depending on the depth of the tank and the access you get when sticking our limbs in to make adjustments.
. leading to the question - it seems that everyone is stuck on filling the whole tank with light instead of creating soft par areas that coral that require less light would like.
. Example - I have a 125gl long 6' my lighting fixture is 8xt5's at 48" 425watts.
There are also 2 cross braces on the tank that are 4" wide I'd guess.
I stick coral that need less light and less flow at the ends of the tank, high, medium or low for height placement in the tank.
. Question - since I have 1' on each side of the tank that gets less light would this be a desirable lighting scenario? How many have a similar situation out there.
I am looking into ocean revive 247 and although it doesn't fill the tank with complete even light what's the PRO'S VS CONS'S? I trying to justify 3 247's but would like to try 2.
