I recently got a 24G nano cube for my daughter's room and my issue with it is that the light is so strong, the sand becomes brown after literally 2-3 days. How come these lights aren't adjustable? :(

You could change the lighting if you want something that's adjustable. However, it sounds like the tank is just going through the maturing process. Diatoms are normal in a new tank and would make the sand look brown.
