Hi all... I have a question about lighting for my new 180. It's a FOWLR tank.
I currently have a 93 gallon RR cube tank with 1 AI Prime on it. At one point I had 2 Primes before they came out with the gooseneck mounts. I still have the other Prime stored.
I was debating on adding 1 more Prime for the 180, for a total of 3. Now, does using a reef lighting system grow more algae in a FOWLR tank because the light penetrates deeper (like the blue and dark blue)?
And is there an led system I can use that offers features like the AI does with wifi and cloud built-in? If not, is there a decent led system that is meant more for a FOWLR tank?
I have been having constant algae issues on the glass and rocks and my phosphates are .03ppm and nitrates are 2ppm. I feed every other day.
If I decided to just add another AI Prime, what would be the best Kelvin spectrum to use to avoid micro algae because I have no corals? Or even now on my cube... Is there a better spectrum to avoid the algae? Because it mostly seems to grow on the glass right above the sand and on the rocks. Some of it is green dust algae that easily wipes away, some is green algae that has to be scraped off the glass because a pad won't remove it, and the rocks are full of diatoms.
I've decreased lighting to 6 hours/day for months and can't get rid of it.
So is there a better light I could be using if I don't have reef needs on a 6 foot tank? I was looking at the new Current USA IC Loop but it's got all these ridiculous manifolds.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
