hello. I have a 50 gal Fowlr tank. My tank has been up for 6 months now, for about 3 months i have been battling some sort of red/brown algae. Nothing i do helps except cutting down, turning off the lights. Within 3 days of turning off the lights they completely disappear. When i turn on the lights they slowly come back. I currently have Aquaneat lights that are mostly white lights with a few blue lights. Would it be better to get a different light that had less white and more blue/red/green?

I just want the cheapest light i can get because i am not going to have any corals and just need light to highlight the colors to watch the fish. Any suggestions if i change the lights if it will help the algae from coming back and any suggestions on a light to buy? The Aquaneat light cost like $30 and that is why i bought it in the first place.

Salinity 1.025
Nitrate 17.6
PH 7.9
Alk 7.9

These pic were taken a while ago when it first started. The gold has gone away and the red/Dark Brown stuff took over. Turned into stringy stuff on rocks and sand. I cleaned out as much as i could and turned off lights and it all went away. When i would turn on lights again for 7 hours a day it would slowly start coming back until i cleaned really good and turned off lights for 3-5 days.

Do you have new pictures of the tank and what’s happening now and not a while ago so we can see what we are dealing with ?
